We have created networks of fully automated umbrella rental kiosks that allow users to borrow umbrellas from a kiosk and return it to any other kiosk. UmbraCity has been successfully in operation in Vancouver since 2016 and we are ready to take it to the next level.

About the Role:

UmbraCity is currently seeking a smart, energetic, and strategic-minded Senior Business Development individual with a track record in B2B sales, especially in the hi-tech and/or advertising sector. This is an ongoing position with a combination of salary, stock options, bonus, and growth opportunity.

The Business Development position plays an important role in enabling us to grow faster. As the Business Developer, you will work collaboratively with the founder & CEO, along with reputable experts in the industry, reporting to the CEO. In this role, you will source, evaluate, negotiate, and execute B2B sales with inbound requests for the service around the world.

Roles and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Create sales material in conjunction with UmbraCity’s team
  • Identify leads for kiosk host in high-traffic and high-profile locations in the Vancouver Lower Mainland area. These include, but not limited to Office Towers, Residential Towers, Shopping Centres, Transit Authorities, Hotels, Retails, Venues, Universities, City properties, etc.
  • Identify contact information for key decision making individuals within those organizations
  • Contact, pitch, and demo the service to those contacts, in accordance with UmbraCity’s agreed offering
  • Negotiate and sign agreements (provided by UmbraCity) with the authorized representative of those organizations
  • Maintain the relationship with the properties and provide usage reports on quarterly, annually, or as per-request basis; data and template provided by UmbraCity
  • Seek opportunities to increase kiosk deployments with other properties of existing customers
  • Using your good-natured wit and charm to build new relationships in-person, email, and over the phone

Desired Qualifications:

  • Master of Business Administration (MBA)
  • Expertise in various CRM systems
  • Proven B2B sales experience
  • Highly competent with excellent executive presence and the ability to communicate effectively and engage with business executives
  • Proven ability to identify and negotiate strategic deals
  • Previous Business Development or Account Management experience
  • Strong project management skills, including ability to juggle multiple projects and prioritize dynamically according to business objectives
  • Ability to work in a start-up environment and eager to see impact everyday
  • Exceptional presentation and proficient in Microsoft powerpoint and deck building
  • Willingness to travel within Canada and the US as required

UI/UX Designer

UmbraCity launched its service for the first time at UBC in 2016 with 4 locations. By 2018 we have expanded our network to 40+ locations with the aim to expand to 150+ locations in Vancouver, and expand the service to other major rainy cities around the world.

About the Role:

UmbraCity is looking for a part-time UI/UX designer for a 6-month contract with the potential to grow into a key and permanent position to help bring our kiosk user experience and engagement to the next level. As a UI/UX designer in our company, you would be leading the project design in collaboration with our development team to create an esthetically intuitive and eminently functional kiosk user interface. Applicants should be apt problem solvers with a positive attitude, and an affinity for working with a great team.

Responsibilities:

  • Create flows, wireframes, high-fidelity mock-ups and interactive prototypes
  • Work and support the development team throughout the production process
  • Create world-class design solutions to various UX/UI problems

Desired Experiences:

  • Strong UX background and familiarity with the latest trends and patterns in desktop and mobile design
  • Proficiency in Sketch and the Adobe Creative Suite applications
  • The ability to prototype with tools such as Invision
  • Strong knowledge of and skills in designing layouts, typography, pattern libraries, design systems, web and brand elements, etc.
  • Basic knowledge of web technologies (html/css)
  • Experience with motion design and tools such as Adobe After Effects and Principle an asset
  • Experience as part of a team that including front and back end developers
  • Ideal but not required: Animation and Microinteraction Design

Software Developer

About the Role:

UmbraCity is looking for an experienced software developer for a 6-month contract with the potential to grow into a key and permanent position to help bring our kiosk user experience and engagement to the next level. As a software developer in our company, you will not just be involved in all aspects of the software development process, but also be encouraged to provide input on future projects, code processes and company direction from software perspective. The successful candidate need to demonstrate deep understanding of JavaScript and desire to broaden his/her skills on newer technologies.

  • Translate product requirements to system level architecture and high-level design that can be reused across applications.

●  Experience in developing for cross-platform compatible solutions, such as Electron

●  Experience with ES6 and modular JavaScript programming

●  Proficient in using CSS, Bootstrap or SASS/LESS

●  Experience with writing unit tests with tools such as Jasmine, Karma, Jest, Sinon, and Chai

●  Experience with RESTful APIs and SaaS services such as Google APIs

●  Comfortable with using code versioning tools, such as Git
